The President of RI has launched online book program for students. The government acquired the copyrights of those books from the writers and publishers, and it will continue to acquire the copyrights of more books next year.
However by the time i wrote this, the link to the download site is broken (i posted a comment letting The Jakarta Post know but not sure if it’s moderated– my comment was approved).
Furthermore, Minister of National Education Bambang Sudibyo called on local governments to help the education sector by downloading the books, printing them and providing them for free to the students in their area.
Although i believe this is a good idea and thank the government for the initiative, i have a technical question: Why print it and who pays for the cost?
